The rail in my wardrobe broke :( now what? I have a relatively cheap beech (style) wardrobe for a bedroom in my house to hold all my work clothes but the rail in it was pretty crappy! It was hollow metal painted white and sat in little plastic cups which slotted in to a wee hole on the inside wall of the wardrobe. But then the rail kept falling down lol. Like, one of the plastic cups came out of the hole because of the weight on the rail. Don't get me wrong i wasn't hanging like 50 fur coats, just a few work suits and shirts etc. What do i do now? I like the wardrobe! and theres nothin wrong with it. should i get a joiner or handyman in to build me a new rail? any ideas anyone? thanks a million :)

What are these moths suddenly doing in my flat and ought I to get rid of them? At the weekend, I transfered all my husband's and my clothes from exposed hanging rails into a new wardrobe. Since then, I've noticed lots of little gold, dusty moths flying around the flat and generally just hanging out on the walls. I'm assuming they came from the clothes. Should I be worried? Do moths really eat fabric or is that just an old wive's tale? How can I get rid of them? (without wanting to sound like too much of a mad insectophobe)

use hardwood plywood for making wardrobe? Hello, I plan to make a wardrobe using hardwood plywood. I don't know whether it can handle the weight and the durability. The hardwood plywood I plan on using is 1/2" thick, and the wardrobe is 29 1/2" x 80" x 22 3/4" (w x h x d). It will have a clothes rail and some drawers. Do you think that it's alright to use this? or should I use particleboard instead? Any answer is appreciated.

How many hangers for a baby wardrobe? Hiya, The wardrobe I am getting for my first child has got two rails, one at the top and one at the bottom, I also have two chests of drawers with 3 drawers in each. I am going to put nappies in a drawer, sleepsuits, vests, and rompers in another drawer, socks, hats tights, knickers, nappy wraps etc.. in another drawer, but I was wondering how many coathangers I would need for my baby wardrobe. I dont want it to be empty, but I was going to put snowsuits, pramsuits, coats, outfits, dresses, christening outfit in the wardrobe. I have already bought two packs of white wooden coathangers so I have 20 so far, how many more would I need to buy? Thanks All
How can I make my wardrobe space more efficient ? I have a built-in wardrobe, but It's not that big. About 34" wide, 40-45" deep, and 60" high (Not to the ceiling.) Basically it has two rails (one at the front, by the entrance door, and one at the back, and double doors. I obviously cant get to the one at the back, because If I put clothes on the front one, they'll be blocking the way to the back rail. I have enough clothes to fill both rails. I also have only 3 draws for folded clothes, so I need a space for jeans, skirts etc. that I can't hang. Any suggestions at all!!! xoxo
If you've experienced problems with clothes moths in wardrobes & drawers, what products do you use to rid them? Does your wardrobe (timber, or other material) have good tight or close fit/seals around the doors and front of wardrobe cabinet? If you used products such as mothballs, camphor, lavender, (including ones in plastic cylinders that hang on hanging rails), were they very effective, and what was your experience with them? Have you tried anything else that was effective?
Converting a small cupboard into a wardrobe space??? The bedroom is approx 5m x 5.5m and has a door in the corner leading to a small cupboard room approx 1.4m x 1.4m. Currently its not being used, so im considering taking the door off, and either replacing it with sliding door, double leaf doors,or just an alcove opening. i want to lower the ceiling so im considering an MF ceiling, and putting 2 spot lights at the front of the cupboard and a switch on the outside. then redecorate it out, paint, etc, and then have 2 rails in there for clothes, and a small section at the bottom for shoes and the like. has anyone got any other ideas? im just thinking of what else i would do to make it into a more fitting wardrobe space. would you leave the doors off and replaster it into an alcove space? or would you leave it concealed by a door? any ideas are much appreciated.

Any ideas what I can do? thanks for idea but I want it to look good!! clothes racks look a bit...temporary!
Does anyone know where I can get an additional hanging rail to add on to an existing one? I have seen advertised thingies that add extra hanging space in a wardrobe. Does anyone know where I can get one???

Where can I get a custom-made wardrobe (UK)? My new apartment has a large built-in wardrobe, but I'd like some extra space for my many, many clothes! There is a narrow alcove in the room, probably about 60-70cm wide and deep enough to hang clothing. At the moment it's just wasted space! I've tried IKEA, but all their 'custom' wardobes seem to be only 50cm or over 100cm wide. I'd like to fit a hanging rail and shelving in there and then a frosted glass door to hide it all away. Does anyone know of any companies that will make built-in wardrobes to measure? Thanks! xx Emmie
Which do you prefer in your room? a) Built in cupboards b) Wardrobes c) Clothes rails.
Can anyone tell me what the lockable travel safe disguised as coat hanger is called please? This portable travel safe is disguised as a coat hanger but where the normal triangular section is in the middle, this is filled in with metal, one side opens up and you can deposit valuables in it, such as cash and passports and it can then be locked again securely. It is also locked on to the wardrobe rail for further safety. I thought it was called a 'Stowaway', a 'Hideaway', a 'Hang-away' or something like that but despite hours searching the web, have been unable to find what I am looking for. I have been able to find fabric ones, which are not lockable but these are not what I want. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you.
Any advice on our hotel disaster? We recently took our 2 young children to Blackpool, Two days earlier i booked us into a hotel on the promonade that i found on the internet. The hotel have a very good website that promises lovely clean rooms, photo's on the website show the rooms at the excellent quality as described. As it looked so inviting i wasted no time calling them with my booking, i requested a cot which they said they would provide for us and they required a minimum £80 deposit which i paid. The minute i entered the hotel reception i knew i had made a mistake, i was already facing dirty walls, dirty carpets and clutter. As we had a pushchair, 2 children and 3 suitcases and our room was at 2 flights of stairs we asked to use the lift that the hotel states they have on the website, for some unknown reason they insisted we leave the lift and use the stairs, so we did and struggled. We was also then informed that there was no cot in the room as they only have a small travel cot and that our child would be too big for it. bad start already! Then came the moment to enter the room (that i had just been made to pay in full for even before seeing it). To no shock after seeing reception here we was faced with dirty carpets with ciggarette burns, appauling decorating, furniture from the 70's, curtains hanging off the rail, wardrobe doors hanging off, Draws with no handles, en-suite door unable to close and to top things off the seafront is undergoing renovation so our seaview was a building site which im sure we could of been pre-warned on booking. Totally opposite to what the website advertises. Bare in mind we are not fussy snobs we are a middle class family who have saved hard for our holiday. Immediately i went off to book us into a side street B&B. I explained to the hotel manager that i was unhappy with the room and asked for my money back, he didnt offer me another room he handed over the cash i had paid but held back my £80 deposit, he insisted a deposit is a deposit and thats the risk you take booking from online and refused point blank to give it me back, i even tried to compromise and asked for half but he refused. I'm looking for advise on what i should do next, do you think i should be entitled to my deposit back?, Do you know of anyone i can contact? as i cant seem to find anything on the internet. Any help and sensible advice on who to contact and getting my deposit back would be much appreciated.

Help about room clean & clear out? Ok so my mum's told me I have to clean my room, it's already mostly tidy but we have family coming over and she wants the whole house spotless and completely organised. Does anyone have/know of checklists on how to clear out an clean your room? Also I do have lots of clothes (a chester drawer, a wardrobe, a rail and a suitcase under the bed full) so I've been told to have a clearout but the problem is even if I dont wear them I dont want to get rid incase I ever will want/need to wear them, so has anyone got any good ideas on how i can choose which ones to throw an which ones to keep? Please dont say to take them all out cos the odds are I'll get fed up of cleaning, go on a break then they'd all be shoved back in the bottom of the wardrobe when I have to tidy them up. Any help will be appreciated :) x Forgot to mention I also dont know when the last time I wore a lot of my clothes were, I dont keep a mental record of what I've worn, i grab things that are in style and go together then leave, i actually have to many clothes to remember when each item was worn so the 6 month/1 year rules dont work.

How much we ladies love our horses? Read this poem and find out!? To cute not to share: A Horse Husband's Lament. My wife, she has a quarter horse, with flaxen mane and tail, She thinks he is the finest thing that ever jogged a rail. She calls him Dandy Darling, and if the truth I tell, That fancy pampered quarter horse has made my life pure HELL! My wife she used to cook for ME and serve it with champagne, Now she'd rather feed that horse and fix his special grain. She rides him every morning, and grooms him half the night, The last time that she kissed ME it was just to be polite. He dresses better than I do, with matching wraps and ties, My wardrobe's so neglected now, that I attract the flies. One day my wife was shopping, she was down at the mall, And fancy pampered DANDY was just standing in his stall. He looked so smug and sassy, that I began to grin, I'd saddle that fat sucker, and take him for a spin. I've wondered since, if cues I gave, he might have misconstrued, For when I climbed aboard that horse, he rightly came UNGLUED. He bucked and spun, and snorted fire, and threw me through a fence. I saw big stars and there are 6 teeth that I ain't heard from since. My wife came home and saw me, just a lying in the dirt, She rushed up to her HORSE and asked him, "Sweetheart are you HURT?" He'd scratched his nose a little bit, and the memory galls me yet, She left me lying in the mud, and ran to call the VET!!! I actually did something like this once. My team roping hubby got in a tangle and got dumped off. I ran out in the arena and stepped over him lying on the ground to catch my horse. And checked the gelding for bumps and bruises long before I even thought about him. I can get another husand (lol), but my horse is priceless.

Decorating my room. Ideas? Well, I want a minimalist type bedroom, i'm not repainting (they're white, and i want to leave them like that) but i'm open to suggestions on what to put on my walls (e.g. posters/pictures/photo's on one half of a wall) I have quite a small room, i am interested in photography + i'm very creative if that's any help, and i'm only 14, by the way. Plus I need somewhere to hang my bags and necklaces, i could perhaps put up a half-rail in my wardrobe, to hang them on. but I don't know. Idea's?
What type of hinge could I use for cupboard doors lifting upwards not more than 90 degrees? I have been building a built-in wardrobe with sliding doors. Basically, the body of the wardrobe will have a rail for clothes and at the top I have created two cupboards. However, the hinges I am currently using are very basic and so everytime I open one of the doors I have to hold it open. I was wondering if anyone knew what type of hinges to use in order to make it stay open. Also, please bear in mind that the doors cannot open more than 90 degrees as there is a ceiling! What are these tiny white bugs and how can I stop getting them? In my wardrobe, I had a small pile of clothes on the floor and some hung on the rails, and some boots etc. Its mildly damp which left a small discolouration on the walls and I know this is probably the cause of these insecty things. They are EXTREMELY small, they look like tiny white dots, but when you stare at them long enough they have tiny legs and move. They seem to cling to dirty or damp things. So i've cleaned everything out took all my clothes and washed them and wiped the wardrobe inside with antibacterial and anti fungal disinfectant. But I want to stop them coming again and does anybody know if theyre dangerous and what products i can use? Does anybody know what they are? Anybody else experienced these? Any help appreciated,

I need a fix for a doorway so I can get some privacy.? Ok so recently my Mum decided I was allowed to redo my room, painting etc. I've never really had a proper bedroom before, just a bed and a bedside table and some posters so this is a really great opportunity for me. The only problem is that the room is really small (about 9 by 9 foot) with more of that being an over-sized built in wardrobe. Obviously I want to save as much space as I can and I happen to have a sliding door, which slides right across one wall limiting even more space that I really need. So I took the door off the rails (I'm renting so nothing can be permanent) and now have a doorway. I'm 15 and need my space and privacy, a non-permanent door of some sort would be great. I thought of just having hanging beads on string or something but that doesn't block out sound and my apartment is really small and the lounge-room is just next to it, meaning whenever my Mum has the TV on, I would have a really hard time studying or even sleeping. I was thinking of an accordion door but I don't think they're permanent and everything else I've thought of simply doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help. :)
